Every business has a beginning, and for me, the story of Gold Country Entertainment started with more than a career move — it began with a calling.
As part of a Gold Star family, my twin sister, Sr.A Alecia Sabrina Good, gave her life in service in 2006 — I know firsthand how important it is to honor and celebrate life’s most meaningful moments. Starting this company wasn’t just about building a business. It was about creating joy, connection, and memories that last a lifetime.
Before there were sparkling lights, full dance floors, and smiling newlyweds, there was just me — a music enthusiast with a vision. I didn’t know then that my path would lead me to become a wedding DJ, but I knew I wanted to use music as a way to bring people together.
From Radio Personality to Wedding DJ
My career in music began in a very different space: the radio booth. I was an on-air personality at San Francisco’s legendary Live 105, where I lived in the rhythm of rock, alternative, and pop every day. That experience shaped my deep connection to sound and performance.
Then, a chance introduction changed everything. A friend in the event industry connected me with the original owner of what would later inspire Gold Country Entertainment. They were searching for female MCs who wanted to learn how to mix music and host events. The timing was perfect.
There was just one obstacle: I needed $3,000 in professional DJ gear to even begin.
The First Big Leap
Back in 2003, $3,000 felt impossible. I wasn’t earning much in radio, and buying equipment was a huge risk. Still, the pull was too strong to ignore. With the encouragement of family and friends, I scraped together what I could, purchasing the bare essentials.
I promised to repay everyone who helped me, but when they saw how much I lit up at my first few weddings and events, they told me to keep going. Their belief in me was the foundation of everything that followed — and it’s why today, Gold Country Entertainment is built not just on sound systems and lights, but on trust, passion, and shared joy.
Growing Beyond the DJ Booth
What started as simply being a wedding DJ quickly grew into something much bigger. I realized early on that clients needed more than music — they needed someone who could manage flow, host with professionalism, and create a seamless, stress-free experience.
